Working with the idea of the loss and emptiness in the family had always been the focus in my practice. The absence within the family triggers my interest on the unwillingness of speaking about the memories of the loss and often only allows the rest of the family member to talk about it over a family meal. Foods in my works are being used in translating the idea of memories of the absence and relay the reminiscence within the family.
In my recent work I used my personal memories and experiences of losing my grandmother to create the narrative of the emptiness and urge of holding onto things that are associated with the memory and prolonging its presence.
